## Description

Boreal forest, a small fly-in town and a single airstrip set the scene at Leaf Rapids (YLR) in far northern Manitoba. The community was planned in the 1970s around the nearby Ruttan copper-zinc mine, and the airport still provides its main air link. Today it serves supply runs, medevac flights and charters for a small population off the main road network. There is no commercial cargo terminal; freight arrives in limited quantities aboard regional flights or via Provincial Road 391. Larger air-cargo volumes are consolidated through Thompson (YTH) and onward via Winnipeg (YWG).
