## Description

Northern Mindanao's industrial belt feeds the cargo operation at Laguindingan Airport (IATA: CGY), the region's second-busiest after Davao. Serving Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Marawi and the provinces of Misamis Oriental, Lanao del Norte and Bukidnon, the airport handled around 17,700 tonnes of freight in a recent year, up more than 40 percent. Most of this moves as belly cargo on scheduled flights to Manila and Cebu, carrying higher-value goods and time-critical shipments from the area's manufacturing and agriculture. National carriers and express operators use the link for regional distribution. Since April 2025, Aboitiz InfraCapital has run the airport under a concession and is planning expanded passenger and cargo terminals. Customs clearance is handled by the Philippine Bureau of Customs. Roughly 46 kilometres of national road connect the airport to the port city of Cagayan de Oro, opening combined sea-air options through its harbour.
