## Description

A 5,000-square-metre terminal and an apron sized for Boeing 767 and Airbus A330 aircraft give La Araucanía (ZCO) more capacity than its traffic suggests. Opened in 2014 near Freire, some 20 kilometres south of Temuco, it is the principal gateway to Chile's Araucanía region. LATAM, Sky and JetSmart fly mainly to Santiago, with links to Balmaceda and Calama. The airport runs no dedicated freight terminal; cargo moves as belly load on passenger services, while the region's air freight is consolidated through Santiago (SCL). For forwarders it serves urgent berry, oat and forestry shipments rather than scheduled tonnage.
