## Description

Until 2021 the Rayalaseema region around Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh had no airport at all; Kurnool Airport (IATA: KJB) at Orvakal changed that as a greenfield build under the UDAN scheme. IndiGo and Star Air link it with Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. There is no cargo terminal or customs clearance for air freight here – the field is built for passengers. Regional exporters, in a belt shaped by cement, granite and farming, send air cargo through Hyderabad (HYD), about 210 km north, which runs a major international cargo hub.
