## Description

Roughly 23 km east of Medan, in the Deli Serdang regency of North Sumatra, Kualanamu is Indonesia's third-largest airport and the region's main air-freight point. Scheduled carriers including Garuda Indonesia, Lion Air and Singapore Airlines supply belly capacity alongside dedicated freighter activity. In 2024 Çelebi Aviation opened a new cargo terminal, expanding handling capacity for South and Southeast Asian trade lanes. North Sumatra's exports — palm oil, rubber and agricultural produce — move through here under Bea Cukai customs control. A toll road connects the airport to Medan and to the seaport of Belawan, supporting combined air-sea shipments. Kualanamu is also linked to the city centre by a dedicated airport railway, a rarity among Indonesian airports. For forwarders, it is the principal cargo address for the whole of North Sumatra.
