## Description

Renamed Accra International Airport on 23 February 2026, the former Kotoka International Airport (ACC) remains Ghana's only international gateway. Cocoa, gold and chilled fish from the Gulf of Guinea are among the goods that move through it to world markets. Terminal 3, opened in 2018, handles up to five million passengers a year. Cargo throughput runs between roughly 39,000 and 50,000 tonnes annually, anchored by the Ghana Airport Cargo Centre opened in 2016: a 10,000 m² warehouse operated by Swissport that processes close to half of local volumes. Regular freight carriers include Cargolux, Brussels Airlines, DHL, Turkish Airlines and KLM, supplemented by belly capacity on long-haul passenger services. Customs clearance sits with the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, with bonded warehousing available on site. The N1 motorway links the airport to the deep-water port of Tema, about 30 km away, opening efficient sea-air options across the ECOWAS region.
