## Description

A 2,500-metre asphalt runway, a new international terminal opened in June 2025 and roughly 40 scheduled departures a month: Kolwezi serves the core of the copper-and-cobalt belt of Lualaba province in south-eastern DR Congo. CAA, Ethiopian Airlines and Air Fast Congo fly scheduled routes, while charters such as AirJet Angola add capacity that swells during peak mining seasons. Cargo centres on copper and cobalt exports carried by small freighters, but stays ad hoc rather than dominated by major scheduled cargo carriers. Much of the mineral tonnage also leaves overland by truck and rail toward Zambia and Lubumbashi (FBM). For forwarders, KWZ is a genuine mining airport with real, if irregular, freight relevance.
