## Description

KGP is an oil-industry support airport, not an open commercial freight gateway: Kogalym International Airport (ICAO: USRK) sits about 9 km south-east of Kogalym in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (Yugra) of West Siberia. Built in 1986 on the initiative of oil company Lukoil and long owned by it, it mainly serves fly-in fly-out shift workers and moves supplies and equipment for the surrounding oil fields. The runway can accept freighters such as the Ilyushin Il-76 and the Antonov An-124, allowing heavy oilfield gear to arrive by air. There is no conventional forwarder-accessible cargo terminal, however — traffic is tied to corporate and project needs. For general air freight to the region, the larger airports of Surgut (SGC, approx. 180 km) and Nizhnevartovsk (NJC) are the realistic options.
