## Description

Kleinsee began as a De Beers diamond-mining company town on the remote Namaqualand coast of the Northern Cape. Its airfield (IATA: KLZ) was built to fly mine personnel in and out, never to handle scheduled passengers or freight. As diamond extraction wound down from the late 2000s, the town shrank and the runway fell to occasional use. There is no cargo terminal and no customs presence here. Air freight for this thinly populated corner of South Africa is realistically routed through Cape Town (CPT) or Upington and trucked the rest of the way.
