## Description

Contour Airlines, not Cape Air, now connects Kirksville: since August 2023 it has flown regional jets on 12 weekly services to Chicago O'Hare, and from 1 August 2026 it splits the schedule between O'Hare and Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW). IRK (ICAO KIRK) in northern Missouri is subsidised under the Essential Air Service program. The airport handles no air freight — regional shipments truck about three hours to the cargo facilities at St. Louis (STL) or Kansas City (MCI). The town of 17,000 is home to Truman State University and to the world's first college of osteopathic medicine, founded here by Andrew Taylor Still in 1892.
