## Description

Serving one of Mongolia's most isolated regions, Khovd Airport (HVD) is the main air link for Khovd province in the far west, beneath the Mongolian Altai near Khar-Us Lake. Hunnu Air, Aero Mongolia and MIAT connect the provincial capital to Ulaanbaatar, roughly 1,400 km away, making flying the practical alternative to multi-day overland travel. Khovd has no dedicated cargo terminal, so air freight is routed through Chinggis Khaan International (UBN) in Ulaanbaatar, the country's only true cargo hub.
