## Description

Ukraine's second-largest city, Kharkiv (about 1.4 million people), is served by Kharkiv International Airport (IATA: HRK, ICAO: UKHH) on the southern edge of town. Before the war, carriers including Wizz Air, Turkish Airlines and Ukraine International operated here; since Ukrainian airspace closed in February 2022, civilian operations have been suspended and the infrastructure damaged by attacks. No air cargo is handled. In March 2026 Ukraine set up a working group to prepare a phased reopening of its airports, though no firm date has been announced. Until then, Ukrainian air freight moves by road feeder to EU airports, chiefly Rzeszów (RZE) in south-eastern Poland.
