## Description

Opened in December 2018 as Kerala's fourth international airport, Kannur International Airport (IATA: CNN) was planned with freight in mind from day one. Its eight-storey cargo complex covers 32,000 m², is designated entirely as a customs bonded area and can process up to 60,000 tonnes per year. Cold rooms for seafood, fruit and flowers serve the Malabar region's export staples, most of which fly as belly cargo on Air India Express and IndiGo services to the Gulf. The 3,050 m runway can take widebody aircraft, although dedicated freighter rotations have yet to materialise. Road access runs via National Highway 66; forwarders needing scheduled freighter capacity typically route via Kochi (COK). For perishables out of northern Kerala, however, CNN cuts trucking times considerably.
