## Description

Built as a Belgian military stronghold after the Second World War and used by ONUC aircraft during the Congo Crisis, Kamina remains primarily an air base in Haut-Lomami. Its value to logistics lies less in the field itself than in the adjacent rail node of Kamina, where the Lubumbashi–Ilebo line gathers branches toward Kindu and Kalemie. Commercial air freight is effectively absent; the copper and cobalt traffic of the Katanga region moves by rail and through the dedicated cargo airport at Lubumbashi (FBM). For forwarders, Kamina offers no standalone cargo function, but its railway junction underpins the surrounding mining economy.
