## Description

JRF stands for John Rodgers Field, the airfield's original Navy name — today Kalaeloa Airport (ICAO: PHJR) is a state-run general-aviation reliever for Daniel K. Inouye International (HNL) on the west side of Oʻahu, between ʻEwa Beach, Kapolei and the Campbell Industrial Park. It opened to civil use in 1999 on the former Naval Air Station Barbers Point and serves the US Coast Guard, the Hawaii National Guard, a community-college flight school and private aviation. There are no scheduled passenger or cargo flights, and the control tower works daytime hours only (0600–2200). All of the island's air freight moves through HNL, about 20 km east and Hawaiʻi's main cargo gateway. For freight, JRF is not an option; for private and charter flying, it is.
