## Description

Where Ezeiza handles Argentina's intercontinental freight, Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (AEP) plays the opposite role as the capital's domestic and regional passenger airport. Sitting on the Rio de la Plata waterfront just minutes from downtown Buenos Aires, it serves dense domestic routes plus regional links to Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay, Chile, Bolivia, Peru and Colombia. A runway and terminal upgrade completed in 2021 reinforced its passenger focus. On the cargo side the airport is limited to belly freight on passenger aircraft and small-to-medium consignments; it has no dedicated wide-body freight terminal. Customs agents on site can clear smaller shipments, but volume and intercontinental airfreight is routed through Ministro Pistarini (EZE), about 30 kilometres to the south-west. Forwarders therefore plan heavy or customs-intensive cargo via EZE and its Terminal de Cargas Argentina. AEP's strength is proximity: a short drive into the city centre and quick access via the urban motorways. For time-critical documents or light shipments within Argentina, it is a convenient point of contact.
