## Description

Nine million passengers a year and counting: John Glenn Columbus International has been setting records since the region's economic surge began, with Southwest, Delta, American, United and Breeze carrying the load. The airport took the name of astronaut and senator John Glenn, an Ohio native, in 2016. For freight forwarders, however, the Columbus story is a two-airport system: the Columbus Regional Airport Authority deliberately concentrates cargo at all-freight Rickenbacker (LCK), ten miles south, leaving CMH with little more than domestic belly capacity. Freighter operations, ground handlers and Foreign-Trade Zone 138 all sit at LCK. The wider region is one of the fastest-growing distribution markets in the Midwest, propelled by Intel's chip fabs in New Albany and the junction of Interstates 70 and 71. A roughly two-billion-dollar replacement terminal is under construction, due to open late this decade. Book passengers through CMH, book pallets through LCK – Columbus has organised itself so you never have to mix the two.
