## Description

Around 722,800 passengers but only some 508 tonnes of cargo in 2025 place Ji'an Jinggangshan Airport (JGS/ZSGS) firmly among China's regional passenger airports rather than its freight gateways. Located in Taihe County and operated by Jiangxi Airport Corporation, the airport began life in 1975 as Taihe military airfield and opened to civil traffic under its present name in 2002, with an expansion completed in 2004. A single runway of 2,600 metres and just under 8,000 aircraft movements a year define the scale; no dedicated cargo terminal or freighter service is confirmed, so air freight moves only as belly cargo on domestic flights. Exporters and importers in the Ji'an area therefore truck their consignments to larger gateways: Nanchang Changbei (KHN) lies roughly 230 road kilometres to the north and Ganzhou Huangjin (KOW) about 180 kilometres to the south, while intercontinental capacity is concentrated at Guangzhou Baiyun (CAN) and Shenzhen Bao'an (SZX). Customs clearance for international shipments is handled at those airports, not at Ji'an.
