## Description

Toys from Chenghai – one of the world's largest toy manufacturing clusters – ceramics from Chaozhou and garments from Jieyang: the Chaoshan region of eastern Guangdong produces export goods in volume, and Jieyang Chaoshan International Airport (SWA) is its air link. Opened in 2011 to replace Shantou's old downtown airfield, the airport serves the tri-city area of Shantou, Chaozhou and Jieyang. A cargo zone rated for more than 90,000 tonnes a year, upgraded during the 2022 terminal expansion, handles mostly domestic belly freight on dense trunk routes. For intercontinental main-haul capacity, forwarders truck shipments to Guangzhou Baiyun (CAN), Shenzhen Bao'an (SZX) or Hong Kong (HKG). Expressway and high-speed rail connect the airport to the Pearl River Delta, and the seaport of Shantou rounds out the multimodal picture.
