Twelve international freighter routes, a 2035 target of 1.23 million tonnes of cargo and mail, and a first international departure on 28 May 2026: Jiaxing Nanhu Airport is the Yangtze River Delta's first dedicated air cargo airport. Converted from a military airfield in Xiuzhou District and opened for civil operations in late 2025, the field hosts YTO SKYHUB, the global logistics centre of Chinese express giant YTO. Planned freighter links cover the United States, Japan, South Korea, Canada, the United Kingdom and Germany. Outbound cargo draws on the Delta's industrial belt: garments, footwear and leather goods, computer and phone accessories, auto parts and cross-border e-commerce parcels. Positioned between Shanghai and Hangzhou, the airport connects by expressway to the Delta's manufacturing cities, with the deep-sea ports of Yangshan and Ningbo-Zhoushan within trucking range. For forwarders, Jiaxing offers an emerging alternative to congested capacity at Shanghai Pudong.
