Jiaxing Nanhu Airport (JNH/ZSJX) opened on 26 December 2025 as the first purpose-built air cargo hub in the Yangtze River Delta, positioned between Shanghai and Hangzhou. It follows a cargo-first, passenger-supported model: the site has a 3,400-metre runway and 56 aircraft stands, 38 of them reserved for freighters. The anchor customer is YTO Cargo Airlines, the air arm of express operator YTO Express, which has backed the project since a 2018 agreement with the Jiaxing municipal government; together they plan 28 international cargo routes. Targets for 2030 stand at 1.1 million tonnes of cargo and 1.8 million passengers, while the first phase passenger terminal is sized for 500,000 travellers a year. Initial scheduled services link Jiaxing with Beijing, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Changchun. For shippers in Zhejiang and southern Jiangsu the airport is a genuine alternative to Shanghai Pudong (PVG), Hangzhou Xiaoshan (HGH) and Ningbo Lishe (NGB), whose capacity tightens in peak season, and the road feeder run is short given Jiaxing's position between the two conurbations.
