## Description

Opened on 29 August 1998 as Korean Air's own flight training base, Jeongseok Airfield (IATA: JDG, ICAO: RKPD) in the interior of Jeju Island near Seogwipo has never handled commercial traffic. The airline uses the site exclusively for pilot training, together with Korea Aerospace University, and it houses some 18 instructors, simulators for instrument flying and cockpit procedures including Cessna Citation II and CJ1+ types, and Korean Air's aviation museum. There are no scheduled flights, no freight handling and no customs post. Air cargo to and from Jeju moves solely through Jeju International (CJU) on the north coast, whose dense links to Gimpo and the mainland supply the belly capacity the island's exporters rely on. Tangerines, seafood and e-commerce parcels dominate that flow, while heavy and bulk goods leave by ferry. For shippers, JDG is a training site rather than a logistics address.
