## Description

A Rs 605 crore terminal project is set to give Jammu Airport (IATA: IXJ, ICAO: VIJU) its first domestic cargo terminal and roughly double capacity to about five million passengers a year, with commissioning announced by the airport's director for the end of 2026 alongside a shift of the runway threshold to the northern end. Until then IXJ remains a civil enclave on an Indian Air Force station in the Satwari district of Jammu, with the tighter security procedures that status implies and no meaningful air cargo handling. IndiGo, Air India and SpiceJet link the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir with Delhi, Srinagar and other domestic points; pilgrim traffic to the Vaishno Devi shrine near Katra dominates demand.
