## Description

For all its runway length, Jalibah Southeast Air Base plays no part in commercial logistics. The base lies in the desert of Dhi Qar province in southern Iraq, about 65 kilometres southeast of Nasiriyah, carries neither an IATA nor an ICAO code and is reserved for military use, with no freight terminal and no customs post. Cargo bound for the south is handled at Basra International (BSR), the nearest genuine freight airport, roughly 130 road kilometres east, where the Lebanese Air Transport Company (LAT) is the sole authorised operator of the cargo terminal and also covers handling, storage and customs clearance; all shipments pass X-ray screening, and the terminal takes general cargo, express consignments and temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical and equipment shipments. Baghdad International (BGW) serves as a second option. A road link ties Jalibah to the main Basra–Baghdad highway, while volume and project cargo for the region moves through the port of Umm Qasr.
