## Description

A new airport is rising nearby: more than 380 hectares, a 3,800-metre runway, six aircraft stands and a two-storey terminal of around 10,000 square metres sized for 350 passengers an hour, built to take Boeing 737, Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft in passenger and cargo configuration. Until it opens, Jalal-Abad Airport (ICAO: UCFD) stays what it has long been: a class 3C regional field operated by Manas International Airport OJSC, without instrument landing aids and therefore limited to daylight hours. Asman Airlines, Avia Traffic Company and TezJet fly the daily hop to Bishkek with BAe-146 and DHC-8-400 equipment, which against the mountain roads saves the better part of a day. There is virtually no dedicated freight handling here; goods move by truck or through the larger airport at Osh (OSS), while international air cargo runs via Manas in Bishkek (FRU). For forwarders, Jalal-Abad is a passenger feeder with no cargo role.
