## Description

In 1964, the tsunami spawned by the Great Alaska Earthquake leveled much of Crescent City – still the worst tsunami damage ever recorded on the US West Coast. The town's airport, Jack McNamara Field (IATA: CEC, ICAO: KCEC), keeps California's far northern coast connected today with subsidized Advanced Air flights to Oakland on 30-seat jets, flown in defiance of the persistent Pacific fog. No freight is handled: Del Norte County is supplied by truck along US 101, with air cargo routing through Medford (MFR), Oregon, or the Bay Area. Beyond the fence begin the redwoods of the national and state parks.
