## Description

Ikar, Nordwind, Azimuth and RusLine are the carriers that keep Ivanovo Yuzhny (IWA/UUBI) connected, and the single route to St Petersburg (LED) accounts for well over three quarters of weekly departures. The airport lies about seven kilometres south-west of Ivanovo, a city long associated with the Russian textile industry, and handled more than 100,000 passengers in 2023. It operates domestic flights only: there is no international service and no customs post for air traffic. No cargo terminal or scheduled freighter activity is documented, so what little air freight moves does so in the holds of domestic passenger flights. A major runway rehabilitation has left the field able to accept narrow-body jets of the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 class. Freight users in the region work through the Moscow hubs Sheremetyevo (SVO) and Domodedovo (DME) some 300 kilometres to the south-west, or Nizhny Novgorod (GOJ) to the east; Ivanovo Severny, a separate military airfield in the same city, should not be confused with it.
