## Description

Opened in November 2022 as the first greenfield airport of Arunachal Pradesh, Donyi Polo Airport (HGI) at Hollongi finally gave the state capital Itanagar a scheduled air link. IndiGo and regional carriers connect the airport with Kolkata, Delhi and Guwahati, replacing what used to be a long road journey to the nearest railhead. Cargo facilities, however, do not exist: no freight terminal, no customs handling, only occasional belly load on passenger flights. The state's horticultural produce – kiwis, mandarins, ginger – still moves largely by road. Forwarders handling air freight for Arunachal Pradesh route consignments through Guwahati (GAU), reachable in a few hours via NH-415 and NH-15.
