With 652,274 passengers in 2024, Isle of Man Airport (IATA: IOM, ICAO: EGNS) at Ronaldsway is the island's principal air gateway, and unusually for an airport of this size it has a working air cargo terminal. FCX Worldwide Express runs a purpose-built facility there, handling around 500 tonnes a year according to the company, with dangerous goods acceptance and live animal transport; Rendezvous Freight Services is a second forwarder on site. No scheduled freighter services operate, so air cargo travels as belly load on passenger aircraft. Loganair bases aircraft at Ronaldsway and serves Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh and London; easyJet flies Gatwick, Bristol, Liverpool, Manchester and Belfast, and Emerald Airlines operates Dublin for Aer Lingus Regional. Volume freight still goes by sea: the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company moves trucks and trailers from Douglas to Heysham, with further links to Liverpool, Belfast and Dublin. The island forms a customs and VAT union with the United Kingdom, so consignments from Great Britain are handled as domestic traffic.
