## Description

A modular cargo terminal rated at roughly 80,000 tonnes per year anchors the freight role of Islamabad International Airport (ISB), one of the largest cargo facilities in Pakistan by capacity. Opened in 2018 and administratively located in Attock district, it is the newest of the country's three major airports and serves the Islamabad–Rawalpindi capital region. Cargo ground handling is provided by Menzies together with Royal Airport Service, with throughput moving mainly in the bellyholds of around two dozen carriers including Qatar Airways, Etihad, Turkish Airlines, Emirates, Saudia and China Southern. Customs clearance runs through Pakistan Customs, supported by bonded warehouses for import and export goods. The M-1 and M-2 motorways connect the site directly to Peshawar in the northwest and Lahore in the southeast. Because most freight travels in passenger aircraft rather than dedicated freighters, shippers with full-freighter needs are often routed via Karachi. Even so, Islamabad's central position makes it a key reference point for the capital region's logistics.
