## Description

Three kilometres south of the old trading town on Mozambique's southern coast, Inhambane Airport (IATA: INH, ICAO: FQIN) works a 1,500-metre asphalt runway 16/34 alongside an 800-metre sand strip. As of September 2026 LAM Mozambique is the only scheduled operator, flying to Maputo and Vilanculos with about 29 arrivals a month between them. There is no cargo terminal, no freighter service and no dedicated air-cargo customs post, so freight travels as belly cargo on regional aircraft, at express- and small-consignment scale. The provincial economy runs on beach tourism at Tofo and Barra, fishing and coconut farming, with gas processing at Temane inland. Larger consignments clear customs at Maputo International (MPM) and are trucked roughly 470 kilometres north on the N1. Vilanculos (VNX) serves as the nearer alternative for the north of the province and Beira (BEW) for the centre of the country.
