## Description

6,000 tonnes a year: that is the design capacity of the cargo terminal opened at Ignatyevo Airport (IATA: BQS, ICAO: UHBB) in Blagoveshchensk in April 2026, the first purpose-built freight facility at the Amur region's main airport. A new passenger terminal had entered service on 31 March 2026 — rated at 1,000 passengers an hour, with 23 check-in desks, four air bridges and parking for 600 cars — after taking its first arrivals from Vladivostok and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk on 31 December 2025. The programme is financed under a concession between the Amur regional government and private investor ABS Blagoveshchensk and also covers the runway, the access road and utilities. Blagoveshchensk faces the Chinese city of Heihe across the Amur and has been linked to it by a road bridge since 2022, so heavy and price-sensitive China traffic moves by road rather than by air. Scheduled services are predominantly domestic — Moscow, Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Novosibirsk — and no international freighter route is confirmed. Khabarovsk (KHV) and Vladivostok (VVO) remain the nearest airports for larger volumes and long-haul connections.
