## Description

An airfield in the middle of the world's most important semiconductor region that ships no freight at all – Hsinchu Air Base (IATA: HSZ, ICAO: RCPO) is one of the more counterintuitive entries in any airport database. The base on the edge of Hsinchu City is used exclusively by Taiwan's air force, hosting among others its Mirage 2000 squadrons, and handles no civilian passenger or cargo traffic. The chip output of the Hsinchu Science Park, home to TSMC and hundreds of suppliers, moves by truck along National Freeway 1 to Taoyuan International Airport (TPE), roughly 50 kilometres north, where it is cleared and loaded in the airport's free trade zone.
