## Description

Hurricane Andrew all but erased the original Homestead Air Force Base in 1992; the rebuilt installation lives on as a reserve base. Homestead Air Reserve Base (IATA: HST, ICAO: KHST) south of Miami now hosts the 482nd Fighter Wing and its F-16s. Civil passenger and freight traffic do not exist. For South Florida logistics the field plays no role – air cargo moves through Miami International, a good half hour north.
