## Description

Homer Airport (IATA: HOM, ICAO: PAHO) works with one asphalt runway of 6,701 by 150 feet — about 2,043 by 46 metres — plus a passenger terminal, a lighted helipad, a flight service station and floatplane facilities, handling roughly 53,000 aircraft movements a year. It serves the fishing town of Homer at the end of the Sterling Highway on Alaska's Kenai Peninsula. Scheduled passenger and cargo services are flown mainly by Ravn Alaska, with Anchorage as the dominant connecting point. The runway accommodates turboprops and smaller jets but no widebody freighter, so air cargo travels as belly load and in small freight consignments; there is no dedicated cargo terminal. Unlike most of south-western Alaska, Homer is on the road network, which is why fresh seafood and palletised goods normally travel the roughly 350 kilometres by truck along the Sterling Highway to Anchorage (ANC), where intercontinental freighter capacity is available.
