## Description

Swissport is among the ground handlers at Hermanos Serdán International Airport (PBC/MMPB) near Huejotzingo, an airport operated by the military-linked Grupo Olmeca-Maya-Mexica that moved roughly 990 tonnes of air cargo in the first five months of 2026. About 43 per cent of that volume, some 426 tonnes, went to San Luis Potosí, a figure that shows how closely the site is tied to Mexico's automotive corridor: Puebla hosts a large Volkswagen plant and the Audi factory stands at nearby San José Chiapa. Typical consignments are vehicle components, textiles, postal traffic and perishables such as fruit and cut flowers, processed through the airport's logistics centre opened in 2007; there is no intercontinental freighter operation. On the passenger side PBC recorded 863,355 travellers on 6,194 flights between January and July 2026, up about 27 per cent year on year, with roughly 90 per cent of movements on domestic routes. Road access is the real lever here: Mexico City lies about 130 kilometres away by motorway and the Atlantic port of Veracruz around 300 kilometres, which makes air and sea legs easy to combine. For time-critical or oversized shipments, Felipe Ángeles (NLU) north of the capital, where Mexico City's freighter traffic is concentrated, and Benito Juárez (MEX) serve as alternates. A terminal expansion from 1.4 to 5 million passengers has been announced; whether it adds cargo capacity is not yet confirmed.
