## Description

Fierce downslope winds sweeping off the mountains – locally known as the «luoshan» wind – made scheduled flying at Hengchun Airport (IATA: HCN) so unreliable that airline service ended in 2014. Located at the southern tip of Taiwan near the Kenting National Park, the field today sees only occasional charter and government flights. No cargo is handled on site and there is no freight terminal. Shipments for the Hengchun Peninsula and the Kenting tourism area travel by road to Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH), roughly 100 kilometres to the north, where international belly and freighter capacity is available.
