## Description

China Cargo Airlines put Hefei Xinqiao International Airport (HFE/ZSOF) on the intercontinental map on 23 May 2025, opening a three-times-weekly Boeing 777F service to Liege (LGG) and giving Anhui exporters a European freighter link of their own. The airport handled 136,493 tonnes of cargo and mail in 2025, up from 114,605 tonnes in 2023, and SF Airlines adds scheduled domestic freighter capacity. The volumes come from what the province makes: display panels, memory chips, electric-vehicle components and home appliances, all high-value and time-sensitive enough to justify air. Running a scheduled international freighter route means customs clearance is handled on site, which saves Anhui shippers a day of trucking. A second terminal is under construction, sized for 350,000 tonnes of cargo and mail a year by 2030. The realistic alternatives remain Shanghai Pudong (PVG), some 450 road kilometres east and far deeper in intercontinental capacity, and Nanjing Lukou (NKG) about 160 km to the north-east.
