## Description

YDA Holding of Türkiye built Hazrat Sultan International Airport (HSA/UAIT) for the Kazakh state under a public-private partnership, and the field opened on 1 December 2020. Its airfield certificate, issued a day earlier by Kazakhstan's aviation authority, covers domestic, international and cargo services - but permission is not the same as practice: no dedicated cargo terminal or freighter operation at Turkistan is confirmed, and freight moves as belly load. FlyArystan serves Almaty and Astana, SCAT added Oral in June 2026, and Turkish Airlines flies in from Istanbul; as of June 2026 three carriers served six destinations. The traffic is driven by pilgrimage and cultural tourism around the UNESCO-listed Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi rather than by trade. Kazakhstan's air cargo is concentrated at Almaty (ALA) and Astana (NQZ), and the national network strategy names Almaty, Astana, Shymkent, Karaganda, Aktau and Aktobe as its key hubs - Turkistan is not among them. Practical routing: small urgent consignments via HSA, anything larger via Shymkent (CIT) some 165 road kilometres to the south-east or via Almaty as the international freight gateway.
