Four new freighter parking stands and 52,000 square yards of fresh concrete: the roughly 60-million-dollar cargo apron expansion at Harrisburg International (IATA: MDT, ICAO: KMDT) in Middletown was completed in 2026, lifting ramp capacity by about 30 percent. Born from the Olmsted Air Force Base that closed in 1969, the field ranks third in Pennsylvania for both passengers and cargo. Philadelphia (PHL) and Baltimore/Washington (BWI) are the closest alternatives for traffic MDT cannot serve.
