## Description

HDG is one of the few IATA codes serving southern Hebei, yet Handan Airport (ICAO: ZBHD) remains a passenger operation. It handled about 868,800 passengers in 2024, up 20.8 percent, with eight airlines linking it to roughly 20 Chinese cities including Hangzhou, Xiamen, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Zhuhai. Freight moves only as belly load: there is no cargo terminal, no freighter service and no air-cargo customs post. A third expansion phase completed in 2020 delivered an 18,000-square-metre terminal with five airbridges and eleven aircraft stands, designed for 1.4 million passengers a year, so capacity exists even though the field stays passenger-focused.
