## Description

Hamburg-Finkenwerder (IATA: XFW, ICAO: EDHI) is a factory airfield, not a public airport: it belongs solely to Airbus and exists to serve the company's A320neo final assembly. Four assembly lines here build roughly half of all A320-family deliveries, now including the long-range A321XLR. Airbus delivered 271 A320-family aircraft in the first half of 2026 and has kept its full-year target of around 870 commercial deliveries; the A320 rate is to rise from roughly 65 a month today to 75 by mid-2027, with Finkenwerder being retooled with additional jigs, automated fastening equipment and expanded parts warehousing. No third-party freight is handled: for commercial air cargo, Hamburg Airport (HAM) and its dedicated cargo centre are the relevant gateway, with Bremen (BRE) nearby and the major freighter bases Frankfurt (FRA) and Leipzig/Halle (LEJ) for long-haul capacity. Heavy and outsized consignments also move through the Port of Hamburg, linked to the plant by the A7 motorway and rail.
