Engineered to 4F standard, New Gwadar International Airport (OPGW) opened in October 2024 with a 3,658-metre runway able to take the largest freighters in service, including the Airbus A380 and Boeing 747-8. Built on roughly 4,300 acres with a USD 230 million Chinese grant, it is the largest airport in Pakistan by land area, sitting about 26 km northeast of the deep-sea port of Gwadar in Balochistan. Plans size the field for around 30,000 tonnes of cargo, with a dedicated air-cargo building under construction and refrigerated storage aimed at exporting the region's seafood.
