## Description

Six domestic destinations but effectively no freight business: Guyuan Liupanshan Airport (IATA: GYU, ICAO: ZLGY) recorded about 182,860 passengers and just 12.6 tonnes of cargo in 2021, which says more about its role in southern Ningxia than any route list. The airport cost 458 million yuan, opened on 26 June 2010 and is run by China West Airport Group, with a terminal of roughly 8,000 square metres designed for 500,000 passengers a year. Services reach Yinchuan, Xi'an, Tianjin, Shanghai, Fuzhou and Chongqing, and any freight travels as belly cargo on those passenger flights. There is no dedicated cargo terminal, no freighter operation and no customs post for international air cargo. Sitting at around 1,746 metres on the edge of the Liupan Mountains, Guyuan anchors a farming district known for potatoes, beef and herbs, whose output leaves by the G70 and G85 expressways towards Lanzhou, Xi'an and Yinchuan. For real air cargo volumes and customs clearance, Yinchuan Hedong (INC) and Xi'an Xianyang (XIY) are the relevant airports.
