## Description

Six and a half million passengers in 2025 but barely 14,400 tonnes of cargo: the ratio tells forwarders what Guilin Liangjiang (KWL) is — a tourism airport, not a freight base. China's 48th-busiest airport serves the karst scenery of the Li River around Yangshuo and has no real cargo terminal or scheduled freighters. The air freight that exists moves as belly cargo beneath passenger flights: perishable regional produce and small e-commerce volumes. From October 2025 Guilin again flies directly to Seoul Incheon, adding belly capacity towards Northeast Asia. In May 2025 the Civil Aviation Administration of China approved a new master plan (2025 edition) targeting 20 million passengers and 70,000 tonnes of cargo and mail by 2035. Until then, genuine international air cargo honestly routes via Guangzhou Baiyun or Shenzhen, the nearest large cargo airports. Road and rail link Guilin to Guangdong's industrial centres, while customs here mainly handles tourist and small-parcel traffic. Treat KWL as a feeder, not a freight hub.
