## Description

Roughly 11,000 tonnes of air cargo pass through Pointe-à-Pitre each year – well below the 20,000-tonne capacity of its 3,500 m² freight terminal, a gap that reflects fierce competition from sea freight. Renamed Guadeloupe - Maryse Condé in September 2024 after the late writer, PTP (ICAO: TFFR) is the main airport of Guadeloupe, a French overseas department in the Caribbean where EU customs rules and the French douane apply just as on the mainland. Air France, Air Caraïbes, Corsair and French Bee link the island to mainland France, chiefly Paris-Orly, alongside regional Caribbean services. The cargo zone hosts courier and logistics names such as Chronopost and La Poste, with handling by Air Caraïbes Cargo, Assit' Air Cargo and Corsair International Cargo. Air freight carries mostly express, high-value and perishable goods, while the island's signature bananas and rum leave largely by sea. With no railway on the island, surface distribution runs entirely by road. For forwarders, PTP is a reliable EU-standard entry point to the eastern Caribbean.
