## Description

Renamed after Akhmat Kadyrov, Grozny International Airport (IATA: GRV, ICAO: URMG) lies 7.5 km north of the Chechen capital and ranks among the busiest airports in Russia's North Caucasus. It is in the middle of a major rebuild: a new 3,200 m runway, an international terminal about half-finished by mid-2025, a control tower completed in November 2025, and an enlarged apron for 23 aircraft stands. Traffic is firmly passenger-led, with roughly 128 weekly flights to about ten destinations in four countries; there is no significant standalone cargo operation, and air freight moves only as belly capacity. For scheduled airfreight, forwarders route through Mineralnye Vody (MRV), some 300 km to the west, or via the Moscow hubs. For logistics planners, GRV is a regional passenger gateway rather than a cargo point.
