## Description

Delta returned to Greater Binghamton Airport / Edwin A. Link Field (BGM/KBGM) in May 2026, restoring the daily Detroit flight it had dropped on 14 February 2026. The field in New York's Southern Tier is named after Edwin A. Link, whose "Blue Box" flight trainer taught hundreds of thousands of Allied pilots during the Second World War, while neighbouring Endicott was the birthplace of IBM. On the freight side BGM is empty: no scheduled freighters, no air cargo terminal and no handling agent, with belly capacity limited to a handful of regional flights. Air freight for Binghamton, Endicott and Johnson City therefore trucks to Syracuse (SYR), about 130 kilometres north, and to the New York gateways at JFK and Newark (EWR), reached over Interstates 81 and 88. A roughly US$54 million renovation programme aims to modernise the airport and attract further carriers. For shippers the airport remains a passenger option with a short schedule rather than a freight location.
