## Description

Eight seats and no cargo hold: Advanced Air's King Air 350 turboprops are the only scheduled aircraft at Grant County Airport (SVC/KSVC), linking Silver City with Albuquerque and Phoenix on roughly 28 flights a week. The field sits at 5,446 feet in south-western New Mexico's copper belt beside the Santa Rita (Chino) open-pit mine, and otherwise serves general aviation, corporate flights and fire-season operations over the Gila country. There is no cargo terminal, no customs office and no freighter handling; copper concentrate and industrial goods leave Grant County by truck on US 180 and NM 90. Air freight for the region moves through Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ) about four hours' drive north-east, home to Foreign-Trade Zone 110 and to FedEx and UPS stations. For southbound shipments and cross-border traffic to Mexico, El Paso (ELP) is the shorter run – a little over two hours away and a customs point opposite Ciudad Juárez.
