## Description

Manchester Airports Group, the United Kingdom's largest airport operator, has been appointed to run and redevelop Grand Bahama International (FPO/MYGF) in Freeport, with a first phase of roughly USD 100 million covering a new passenger terminal plus runway and logistics-area upgrades. What matters for freight is the runway: among the longest in the Caribbean, it accommodates wide-body freighters, a capability few regional fields share. Airport and Freeport Harbour operate as one entity, the Sea Air Business Centre, letting goods move between ship and aircraft inside a single bonded compound next to the Freeport Container Port, one of the largest transshipment terminals in the Americas. The whole of Freeport has been a free-trade zone under the 1955 Hawksbill Creek Agreement, so duty-free storage and light processing are possible on site. Scheduled freighter services are not documented here, and most airborne volume moves as belly cargo on the short Florida routes. Passenger traffic is still recovering from Hurricane Dorian in 2019 and terminal facilities remain basic during construction. For larger air-freight volumes Nassau's Lynden Pindling International (NAS) remains the national gateway, with the adjacent container port covering the ocean leg.
