## Description

Yaks on the grasslands, the sacred Amne Machin range on the horizon: Golog Maqên Airport (GMQ) serves one of the most remote corners of Qinghai. Opened in 2016 at 3,787 metres, it is among the highest civil airports in China, linking the Golog Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture – close to the source region of the Yellow River – with Xining. No freight is processed on site; the airfield has neither a cargo terminal nor customs facilities. Shipments from this sparsely populated highland are trucked to Xining and flown out of Xining Caojiabu (XNN).
